Morehouse College has been producing extraordinary leaders, visionaries, and pillars of the community. Since their humble beginnings in a church basement in 1867, they have established a legacy of excellence that continues strengthening each passing year. Famous graduates like Martin Luther King Jr. and Spike Lee are joined by five Rhodes scholars as well as congressmen, business titans, college presidents, and many more who proudly represent the Morehouse ideals.

Continuing the groundbreaking legacies and being a trailblazer HBCU is only scratching the surface of what Morehouse College does. Now, Morehouse has stepped into the AI group chat to challenge the world of teaching. In 2024, Morehouse College decided to take the world of AI further and made plans to use Artificial Intelligence teaching assistants to help crack the code of education. Every professor will have an AI assistant in three to five years. Normally in class, you will see another body or graduate students assisting but that will soon change. The AI teacher assistants will be powered by Open AI. The professor will have the opportunity to collaborate with technology partner Victory RX to create a virtual 3D avatar.

Founded in 2016, VictoryXR’s goal is to introduce innovative ways for students to learn through virtual reality and AI. Online education has rapidly grown in the United States and across the globe. Unfortunately, the traditional classroom has not adapted to online education. In its current form, online students find learning difficult, passive, and unenjoyable via video conferencing. That is where VictoryXR comes in. They offer immersive classrooms and campuses through virtual reality and AI. Their platform allows students to interact in a synchronous yet virtual environment. Educators are given training and 3D objects (over 6,000 and growing!) to teach a variety of subjects to their students. The best part? Students’ grades go up. Student focus goes up. Student enjoyment goes up.

The avatars that will be utilized at Morehouse College will use Open AI so they are capable of conducting two-way conversations with students. The AI teaching assistants will be able to respond to unrelated topics brought up by students and redirect them back to the lesson. The men of Morehouse College will have the opportunity to have 24/7 online access to the avatar which can also communicate in different languages.

These avatars will be the world’s first spatial AI teaching assistants. This could bridge the gap amongst all learners This will also be the nation’s first metaverse and Morehouse has become the blueprint for 120 metaverses in the making.
